East Sydney is due east of the city CBD, and covers only a small area of land.

Once home to a new generation of Italian migrants, it soon became known as ‘Little
Italy’ primarily for its clutch of good Italian restaurants and cafes. Bill & Toni’s
on Stanley Street is probably one of the most famous cheap ‘n’ cheerful Italian
restaurants in Australia, with big helpings of every kind of pasta, all washed down
with copious quantities of free cordial.

Crown Street continues from Darlinghurst into East Sydney, with its wide variety of
restaurants, while the real estate of the area is mostly terrace houses, interspersed
with 1960s, 1970s and 1980s apartment blocks.
